The Academic Staff Union of University, (ASUU) has disclosed the union is awaiting feedback from the Federal government on its request.

It had earlier been reported that the federal government renegotiation team headed by prof Nimi Briggs met with the union on Monday in continuation of the renegotiation of the FGN-ASUU 2009 agreement.

ASUU President, Emmanuel Osodeke indicated the meeting was fair and there are prospects the government will concede to issues discussed with the board.

When inquired from Osodeke if the strike would be called off as deliberation in the meeting was fair, Osodeke stated the board were awaiting a final response from the government.

ASUU President started the renegotiation team consisting of different government agencies. As such, they need to go back to their various agency and review the decisions agreed upon. Emmanuel further revealed UTAS is undergoing an integrity test by National Information Technology Development Agency. Emmanuel said the committee will reach out to them when they are ready for another meeting.
Recall ASUU strike began its ongoing strike on February 14, 2022, after the government failed to meet some of its requests.
