Cross River state governor, Ben Ayade has ordered the dethronement and de-certification of two community leaders over the clash between the two communities. The Obol Lopon of Nko, Obol Etim Ayomobi in Yakurr, and the clan head of Onyadam, Ovarr Vincent Erena, in the Obubra local government area were unseated from the throne with immediate effect.

The two communities clashed over a piece of land which resulted in the death of some people and the destruction of homes.

According to a statement issued by Deputy Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ayade, Mr. Linus Obogo stated the dethronement came as a result of clashes between the communities.

The state government has taken over possession of the land as a result of interfering with the interest of the public. Linus further stated Army are positioned in the community until the killers of the six military personnel were fished out.

An APC Chieftain in the state, Obono Obla also condemned the crisis. A Lawmaker representing Abi/Yakurr Federal constituency in the house of Representatives has implored community members to embrace peace.
