Simon Imobo-Tswam, the media aide to The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Iyorchia Ayu, has revealed that Ayu hasn’t resigned from his position.

The media aide made this revelation via Twitter yesterday, emphasizing that the chairman has not resigned. According to Imobo-Tswam, the chairman has no intention to leave because he has the mandate to pilot the affairs of the party for a term of four years. The disclosure came in reaction to emerging rumors that reflected the resignation of Ayu. These reports claim that the Chairman had informed the erstwhile Senate President and a party leader, David Mark, of his intention to resign.

Meanwhile, the crusade for Iyorchia Ayu’s resignation has been heavily reflected in every conversation relating to PDP’s crisis. As revealed, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is leading the charge for Ayu’s resignation. Wike demanded that the party must dismiss Ayu as the party Chairman to settle the issues between him and the presidential aspirant of PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

Recall that Nyesom Wike hasn’t been on a good term with party leaders ever since he lost to Atiku In the party’s presidential primary election. Since then, the situation has rotten after Atiku picked Delta State governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate. The decision didn’t sit well with Wike causing a fallout between him and the party leaders of PDP. Other aggrieved members of the party, alongside Wike, have pushed fiercely for the resignation of Ayu.

However, Imobo-Tswam stressed that the reports about Ayu’s resignation are false. He stated that the chairman would stick to the party’s constitution and hand his resignation letter to the Deputy Chairman (North), not David Mark. Lastly, the media aide urged party members and well-wishers to shun those rumors and focus on working towards victory by 2023.
