The Ebonyi State Obidient Youth coordinator, Barr. Ezeagbo Ikenna Collins, has rejected his appointment as a special assistant to the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Recall that Collins had earlier been appointed on Tuesday as a special assistant(SA) to the governor. The coordinator however rejected the appointment in a letter addressed to the Governor.

The letter read in part “Your Excellency, I, Barr. Ezeagho Ikenna Collins wish to most sincerely, thank you for the honour reposed on me, by appointing me as your Special Assistant(SA) Sir, this recent appointment has gone a long way in proving to me, the esteemed regard You have for me, having served as an Executive Assistant (EA) to Your Excellency, during your first tenure. I am eternally grateful Sir.”

“Your Excellency Sir, recall that on the 19th day of June, 2021, the OPI YOUTHS
MOVEMENT(YM) which by the special grace of God, I am their President General, invited you for a Thank – You Ceremony to Your Excellency, cum the Civic Reception of our Son, Hon. Barr, Cosmas I. Upwueze, the then Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Govemment Area, which you, Your Excellency, graciously honoured the invitation and
was there live, at the popular St Charles Catholic Church, Opi.”

“Your Excellency, it was on that fateful day turned a carnival, that we, the entire OPI YOUTHS and the then serving Chairman of Nsukka LGA, in the very presence of our esteemed guests and august visitors, knelt down before you, Your Excellency, to remind Your Excellency of the requests (the four most pressing needs of Opi people) by our
Fathers, Mothers and the entire ndi OPT, on the 30th day of June, 2018 during the grand reception in your honour (please find an attached copy of the address, presented to Your Excellency on that fateful day of I9th June; 2021).”

” Your Excellency, it is on record that
you promised Ndi Opi during that Civic Reception of 30th June, 2018 that You will do as our Parents requested. We clapped, cheered You and retired to our fate but, till that day (19th June, 2021), the promises are still being awaited.”

“Your Excellency, it was due to this reneged promises, that the OPT YOUTHS made a three in -one request on that same fateful day of 19th June, 2021 while still kneeling down before you, Your Excellency, which is; i, li and ill) “Construction and asphalting of OPI AGU ROAD”. Your Excellency, this singular request of ours received an “unconditional” and express approval instantly, by You, on camera and before the entire OP1 PEOPLE and our guests.”

“Your Excellency, we were taken aback and devastated when on the Ist day of September, 2022 during an Official Visit to You, in Government house Enugu, by OPI PEOPLE, mostly our aged Fathers and Mothers, to remind you once again, of your promises to OPI people only for them to come back with a report that You have started giving an unrealizable conditions for the construction of the said OPI AGU ROAD Your Excellency, the OPI YOUTHS which I am their President General, did not ask for any elective office(s) nor political appointments) of any sort which is/are mostly personal,
during that occasion of 19th Jun, 2021. We only requested for the CONSTRUCTION AND ASPHALTING OF OPI GU ROAD, which is our topmost priority Sir.”

“Your Excellency, it is in protest to the above, clear and manifest denial of infrastructural facilities by your administration to “ndi Opi” and blatant neglect of OPI PEOPLE that I wish to decline taking up this juicy appointment. I am very much conversant with the
enormous financial benefits attached to this noble appointment but, we should at a time like this, place personal interests below that of the public.”

“Finally Your Excellency Sir, 1 enclosed hereunder, the appointment letter issued to me on the 13th day of September, 2022 to furthermore, affirm the rejection of that appointment. May I, once again, humbly thank you immensely for this great honour bestowed on me
Sir.”
