Justice H.O Oshodi of Lagos State High Court, Ikeja in a sitting sentenced an Islamic cleric Identified as Isah Mustapha to life imprisonment for defiling an eight-year-old girl in the state.

The victim in her evidence asserted that the culprit had carnal knowledge of her in 2017 when she was sent on an errand by her mother.

Narrating her ordeal, she said Mustapha asked her to collect onions from her mother and bring it to his flat. She said after delivering the onion to him, Mustapha ordered her back, and that he was not done with the errands.

“He said I should enter his house, but I said no. I later entered so he would not tell my father that I disobeyed him. He then said I should take off my pant, but I said no. He later took it off himself and his trousers too, then he slept on me. He put his private parts inside me and had sex with me,” she further stated.

The incident became public after her mom gathered her clothes and saw blood blot on them.

Mustapha in his testimony admitted he sent the victim on an errand. According to him, he only inserted his finger in her private part.
The judge after evaluating the argument of the two counsels sentenced Mustapha to life imprisonment.
