Man remanded for stabbing friend to death

A 38-year-old man, Raphael Agu, has been arrainged before a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Yaba Lagos for allegedly murdering his Friend. The defendant was arrainged on two count of murder.

As revealed, Agu allegedly stabbed his friend in the stomach during a fight at Ogudu, Lagos State on May 23.

According to the prosecution, the defendant was given N15,000 by a developer erecting a building around the Transformer Bus Stop in the Ogudu area of the state, to share among the area boys, which he did.

After sometime, the deceased and one other, went to the defendant that he did not share the money equally and during the argument, a fight erupted.

The defendant allegedly retrieved a knife and stabbed the deceased in his stomach.

According to the prosecutor, Thomas Nurudeen, the court that the offence contravened Section 222 and is punishable under Section 233 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015.

Nurudeen also presented a remand application, asking Magistrate P.E Nwaka to remand Agu for 30 days pending legal advice from the Director of Legal Prosecution.

The magistrate granted the request and ordered Agu to be remanded in the Ikoyi Custodial Centre. Nwaka also directed that the case file be duplicated and sent to the DPP for legal advice and he adjourned the case till July 5, 2023.
