Popular Anambra-based cleric, Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, widely known as Odumeje, has announced his intention to contest for the presidency in the 2027 general elections.
According to him, Nigeria needs a young, digital-minded leader to drive progress, rather than the “old cargoes” who have ruled the nation for decades.
Odumeje, who is the general overseer of The Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry, made this declaration during a sermon on Sunday, a moment that has since gone viral on social media.
Addressing his congregation, he criticized past and present leaders, claiming they have failed to move the country forward due to their age and lack of vision.
“The country needs a vibrant, resilient, and forward-thinking leader like me to usher in real progress,” Odumeje stated. “We need a digital leader, not old cargoes.”
Uncertainty Over Political Platform
Despite his bold declaration, Odumeje did not disclose the political party under which he intends to run.
However, the cleric’s statement has sparked widespread reactions, with some Nigerians expressing curiosity about his political aspirations, while others dismiss it as entertainment.
Odumeje’s vision for Nigeria
During his sermon, Odumeje also hinted at some of his plans for Nigeria, emphasizing infrastructure and modernization. “I want to construct a main road called Citadel for you. I want to give you a modern life, a digital life,” he added.
His remarks have continued to stir discussions, with political analysts debating whether his presidential ambition is serious or just another dramatic statement from the cleric, who is known for his theatrics and controversial prophecies.
