According to reports, four Naval rating officers have allegedly stabbed a police officer identified as Abion Ezekiel to death. The incident took place at Satelite town, Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos state.

As reported, the police officer and his colleagues were on patrol around Oluti street before they flagged down the rating officer’s motorcycle. The names of the rating officers involved are Onyekachi Egwumian(27) and Ebubechukin Growth, 28. It was reported that the action of the police officers infuriated the ratings who were said to be mufti. This in turn led to a heated argument.

According to an eye witness, “They were riding a motorcycle when they attacked a team of policemen on patrol at Oluti, Satellite Town, and in the process, the naval ratings stabbed one of the policemen, ASP Abion Ezekiel, in the chest with a jack knife and injured three yet-to-be-identified passersby who attempted to mediate.”

“When policemen were mobilised to the scene, the policeman and the three other victims were rushed to the Adeyemi Hospital, Satellite Town, for treatment. The policeman was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. The three other injured passersby were treated and discharged.”

In addition, Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, also confirmed the attack. According to him, the two ratings officers have been arrested.
