Shiites, security agents clash in Kaduna, six killed

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Shiites has stated that security agent killed six of its members on Monday. The group noted that security agents killed about six and injured 40 followers of Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, its leader.

This development was made known via a statement issued during the group Ashura mourning procession in Zaria Kaduna.

The statement read “Security forces have, today, Monday, gunned down at least seven followers of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky (H), and injured over 40 others during the Ashura mourning procession in Zaria which was observed peacefully across Nigeria and different parts of the world,”.

According to the leader of the Shiites in Zaria identified as abdulhamid Bello, a group of security operatives carried out the operation and shot at its members.

Bello further identified those killed by the security operatives as Jafar Jushi, Kazeem Magume, Ali Samaru, Muhsin Zakzaky, Umar Fatika and another member who he could not identify as of the time of filing this report.

Bello revealed that the total number of casualty is yet to be ascertained. However, some of the victims were rushed to St Luke hospital in Wusasa and others with critical conditions to ABU teaching hospital.
