Ekiti state government has unveiled a MSME ICT Skill Acquisition Hub to empower the youths. According to an official blog post, the state commissioner for trade, industry, investment, and cooperatives, Mrs. Omotayo Adeola launched the program on Wednesday in Ado Ekiti.
Adeola explained that the program is a collaboration between the state ministry of trade, industry, investment, and cooperative and wakocode technologies. She remarked that the initiative focuses on empowering the youth, driving digital transformation, and creating jobs in the state.
Furthermore, the commissioner stated that this goal would be achieved by providing them with high-demand ICT skills necessary for succeeding in the current market. She emphasized that local and international job opportunities will be accessible to beneficiaries, enabling them to work remotely.
Adeola went on to reaffirm the commitment of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration to the empowerment of Ekiti youth. Similarly, she discussed how the initiative is among other tactical programs that would help prepare them for the future.
Additionally, the state commissioner outlined courses available in the training program to include fullstack development, backend development, cyber-security, data analytics, and cloud computing.
She mentioned that the program is available to youth without jobs between age 18-35. Lastly, the commissioner emphasized youth in Ekiti can apply regardless of their academic background.
